Cate Charron

First Amendment Reporter

The Indianapolis Star

Cate Charron reports on the stories, tension and threats related to the five freedoms — religion, speech, press, assembly and petition — enshrined in the First Amendment. She is one of five First Amendment reporters across the USA TODAY Network supported by Freedom Forum and Journalism Funding Partners. It's not her first rodeo at The Indianapolis Star; she previously was an intern and a Eugene C. Pulliam Fellow for Public Service Journalism. She also covered the Indiana Statehouse at the Indianapolis Business Journal. Charron graduated from Indiana University Bloomington and is originally from Detroit.
