Benjamin P. Marcus

Benjamin P. Marcus is a fellow for religious freedom at Freedom Forum. His research examines the intersection of education, religious literacy and religious freedom in the United States, expressed in multiple book chapters, peer-reviewed journal articles and national columns. He clerked for the Honorable Judith W. Rogers of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit from 2024-2025. From 2017-2020, he served as the religious literacy specialist for the Religious Freedom Center of the Freedom Forum, where he developed religious literacy programs for public schools, universities, businesses and government organizations. Marcus advised International Baccalaureate in the redesign of its religion and societies course and previously chaired the writing group for the “Religious Studies Companion Document” to the C3 Framework, a nationally recognized set of guidelines used by states and school districts in the United States. In 2018, he traveled to Albania as a Fulbright Specialist to advise Ministry of Education officials on developing national policies related to religion and education.
