Angele Latham

First Amendment Reporter

The Tennessean

Angele Latham is the nation’s first-ever First Amendment reporter, covering stories focused on the five freedoms enshrined within the First Amendment, both across Tennessee and the nation. A determined and curious reporter, she has carved out a unique corner of the news for herself, allowing stories about our most intrinsic rights to come to light in the face of mounting adversity. Issues ranging from protests, book bans and religion, to drag, free expression, public records and so much more are instrumental to the beat. She is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and a 2025 FASPE Fellow and is supported in her work by Freedom Forum and Journalism Funding Partners. When not picking fights with the various injustices of the world, Latham can be found either in her sunny Nashville apartment or in the skies as she darts off on another adventure.
