Allison Matulli
Fellow for the First Amendment
Allison Matulli is a fellow for the First Amendment at Freedom Forum. She is a Fulbright Global Scholar with a focus on law, a renowned children’s author and an education reform activist. She is the founder of The Little Lawyers, an organization that excites and empowers children to learn the law. She serves as a criminal justice adjunct professor at Florida International University and a pre-law & technical writing lecturer at Howard University.
Matulli’s lifelong quest to connect with and understand others has led her to visit more than 40 countries and live in Italy, Argentina and England. As a Fulbright Global Scholar, she researches how children experience freedom of speech in various countries around the world, both online and offline. Her book Your Freedom, Your Power: A Kid’s Guide to the First Amendment has garnered broad interest from educators and free speech advocates and was named a Junior Library Guild Selection and included in the Chicago Public Library’s “Best of the Best Books” of 2023. She is also the author of I Am Because We Are.
Matulli’s forthcoming children’s book, WE ARE FREE (Penguin RISE, 2026), is a commentary on the privilege of liberty, hailed by Kirkus Reviews in a starred review as “an impressive distillation of an essential American virtue.”
Matulli was named one of “Miami’s Most Prominent Black Women in Business and Industry for 2023” by Legacy magazine and one of “South Florida’s Most Prominent & Influential Black Business Leaders of 2024” by Miami Media Group.
