Hooked on Junk News: How We Got Here and the Road to Recovery

In this workshop, participants will leave with an understanding of the many ways the term “fake news” is used these days and the motivation behind each. They will discuss the dangers of misinformation and its effect on a democracy, plus analyze news for accuracy. They will learn strategies and gain tools to utilize in their community for discussing media literacy in a “post-truth” world.
