ARLINGTON, Va. — The Freedom Forum has named Mary Kay Blake senior vice president/partnerships and initiatives for The Freedom Forum and Beth Tuttle senior vice president/communications for The Freedom Forum and its affiliate, the Newseum.

"Mary Kay Blake and Beth Tuttle are among The Freedom Forum's major assets, and we're delighted to recognize their important contributions to our work," said Charles L. Overby, chairman and chief executive officer of The Freedom Forum.

Blake, who directs the foundation's efforts to increase newspaper newsroom diversity, joined The Freedom Forum in 1999 as vice president/partnerships and initiatives. During a 25-year career with Gannett Co., Blake rose from newsroom copy editor at the Pacific Daily News on Guam to vice president/recruiting and placement for the newspaper division at corporate headquarters. In that capacity, she was responsible for developing, maintaining and expanding the talent pool for Gannett's daily newspapers, which at that time numbered 74.

Tuttle, who will oversee strategic planning, marketing and communications, has been vice president/marketing and communications for The Freedom Forum and Newseum since 1999. A member of The Freedom Forum staff since 1991, she directed the launch of the Newseum, the interactive museum of news, in 1997. She previously served as vice president, director of communications and director of development for People For the American Way, a national First Amendment advocacy organization. Tuttle was president of a strategic marketing and communications consulting firm and a senior account executive with two national advertising agencies.
