Freedom Forum announces appointments

ARLINGTON, Va. The Freedom Forum has named Mary Kay Blake
senior vice president/partnerships and initiatives for The Freedom Forum and
Beth Tuttle senior vice president/communications for The Freedom Forum and its
affiliate, the Newseum.
"Mary Kay Blake and Beth Tuttle are among The Freedom Forum's major
assets, and we're delighted to recognize their important contributions to our
work," said Charles L. Overby, chairman and
chief executive officer of The Freedom Forum.
Blake, who directs the foundation's efforts to increase newspaper
newsroom diversity, joined The Freedom Forum in 1999 as vice
president/partnerships and initiatives. During a 25-year career with Gannett
Co., Blake rose from newsroom copy editor at the Pacific Daily News on Guam to vice
president/recruiting and placement for the newspaper division at corporate
headquarters. In that capacity, she was responsible for developing,
maintaining and expanding the talent pool for Gannett's daily newspapers, which
at that time numbered 74.
Tuttle, who will oversee strategic planning, marketing and
communications, has been vice president/marketing and communications for The
Freedom Forum and Newseum since 1999. A member of The Freedom Forum staff
since 1991, she directed the launch of the Newseum, the interactive museum of
news, in 1997. She previously served as vice president, director of
communications and director of development for People For the American Way, a
national First Amendment advocacy organization. Tuttle was president of a
strategic marketing and communications consulting firm and a senior account
executive with two national advertising agencies.
