James Thompson is senior vice president/operations for the Newseum. He oversees daily operations including security, visitor services, volunteer services and facilities.
Prior to joining the Newseum, Thompson spent four years at the National Gallery of Art, where he managed the daily operations of a 300-person security force responsible for protecting priceless and irreplaceable works of art. Thompson previously spent 20 years in the Air Force, where he was superintendent of presidential aircraft security, managing a 162-person security force responsible for protecting Air Force One and other presidential fleet aircraft.
