Keys left in ignition spark more theft

One in three stolen vehicles in the last week had the keys left in the ignition, Nashville police officials said.
A review of stolen vehicles from March 6-12 showed that 16 out of 53 stolen vehicles in the area were easy targets because the keys were left inside.
Convenience stores are the most common place motorists leave their keys in the ignition, police officials said.
The police department's PARK SMART campaign urges citizens to take their keys, lock vehicle doors and secure any valuables upon leaving the vehicle.
