Metro police are investigating an early morning crash that claimed the lives of two men Monday.
Eric Lovell, 25, of Hendersonville, was driving at a high rate of speed when he lost control of a 2000 Chevrolet Camaro on Tusculum Road near Coleridge Drive, police said.
According to the police report, the car hit a mailbox, utility pole and a large tree. Lovell was thrown from the car, and his passenger, 26-year-old Nathan Hartman of Bess Court South in Antioch, was also killed, police said. Neither man was wearing a seatbelt, police said.
Police speculated that alcohol and excessive speed contributed to the 3 a.m. accident.
