Dear Diversity Institute,
I thought I would be eased into journalism but I guess that was wishful thinking.
My first hour or so was spent doing paperwork and touring the building. Once I sat at my desk, I could barely unpack my AP stylebook when I was given three stories to cover over the next week. That was topped with being responsible for the regional briefs for the week. An hour later I was told I would be covering a press conference the next morning.
Luckily, I feel confident that I can handle the job. I finished the briefs, put titles on them and got them submitted with plenty of time. I finished one of the story assignments and made calls on the other two. Then I did some background searches for the press conference.
Whew!
I'm lucky that everyone here is so helpful and willing to answer my questions.
Thanks for all the training. It makes it easy to get the job done when you know how to do the job.
