Dear Diversity Institute,
I love this job. I know it sounds like a cliche’, but I can’t believe they pay me to be a reporter.
Thank you for a very firm foundation. The fundamentals we learned at the Diversity Institute make me feel comfortable in what I am doing.
The Marshall News Messenger is a small newspaper. Working here gives me an opportunity to write stories every day.
City government is my beat but we wear many hats. That gives us a wide range of experience with a variety of news beats. I also write a weekly commentary.
I look forward to a long career as a journalist. Thanks for pointing the way.
Charlene Draper, a graduate of the third Diversity Institute class, is a reporter at The Marshall (Texas) News Messenger.
