Police question teens with weapons

A half-dozen teenagers walking through Fannie Mae Dees Park were stopped Monday night by police answering a call about juveniles carrying weapons. But the group was released after they were found to be carrying pellet guns that shot plastic ammunition.

Vanderbilt officer Bob Pasinger said the six teens, ranging in age from 14 to 16, were stopped after a man flagged down a campus policeman to report seeing them walking through the park at 24th and Blakemore.

“They had no intent to violate any laws,” said Pasinger of the teens who were wearing goggles and carrying four pellet guns.

When questioned, the teens said they were only shooting at each other. After confiscating the pellet guns, Pasinger said he told them what they were doing “wasn’t a great idea and it was actually illegal.”

The teens were not charged and released.
